Top Cat Of The Week!

On Friday Madison was so so happy to be named, "Top Cat of The Week!"  She was the first one in her class, just like last year.  =)  Very proud mama here.
Over the weekend we decorated a poster all about her and this week she has to take in:
Her Favorite Book: she LOVES to read and reads everything so she doesn't really have a favorite but we recently bought If You Give A Dog A Donut so that is her pick
Her Favorite Song: Taylor Swift, "Shake It Off" (can't wait for October!!!)
Her Favorite Toy:  The "Honey Girl" she just made a Build A Bear
So, so proud of this girl and how much she loves school.  I think her teacher's appreciate it too.  What a wonderful way to start 1st grade!

These cuties celebrated with a "sister sleepover."  They started out on the couch and floor upstairs and then Madison moved to her bed and Emma moved to her floor and eventually they both ended up in M's bed.  Silly girls!

Here's the finished product:

In school, I think I'm good at:  Listening and reading
Things I Am Good at Doing: gymnastics, softball, swimming, dance
My Favorite Colors:  pink, purple, turquoise

Madison's First Day of 1st Grade

Madison started school last Monday, August 24th and has had the best week!  She was super excited and was already awake when I went up to get her around 6:40 am.  Ug, it's been hard to wake up early again.  Madison wanted all of us to walk in with her on the first day so that's just what we did.  When we left she was all smiles and ready to start her day.  I, however, had a lump in my throat but held it together.  At pick up she was so happy and said, "It was so much fun!"  We went to Chik-fil-a for a celebratory brownie ice cream sundae!

One Last Adventure

Today we took the girls to the zoo for one last adventure before school starts tomorrow.  Bring it on!

Madison is going to chomp 1st grade!

Meet The Teacher, Bikes, and Bogata

Well, it's finally here...the night before school.  Eeek, summer is officially over.  Friday morning Madison had "Sneak A Peak" where she got to meet her teacher, Ms. White-Myles who seemed super nice, and see her classroom.  There are 3 kids from her kinder class in her 1st grade class and 2 of them sit at her table so that made her happy.

Our neighbor across the street, Jacob, is also in her class so she's got a few familiar faces!

After Meet the Teacher we headed to Bogata to spend the day with Granny and celebrate her early birthday.  The girls had a ball playing with Jessie.  It was a great day!

94 years young!

On Thursday we hung out with Mimi and Pa and did a little bike riding on the trail behind their house.  Dad brought out my old purple unicorn bike and it's held up pretty well over the years!  And yes, I'm wearing a jacket in August!  Who would have thought that it could feel like Fall, sure didn't last long.

I really wish Emma would wear that bike helmet all day, every day!  Here's how she waits for her turn at gymnastics.  On the tippity top row of the bleachers of course.  My wild child!

Reunited

Recently we've been reunited with some old friends and it's been so much fun!  My friend Staci, from 7th grade, moved from Houston to Carrollton and she is only 11 miles from our house.  She has a son a year older than Madison and a daughter a couple weeks younger than Emma and they were 2 peas in a pod.  Such fun catching up with them!

And then we were anxiously awaiting our visit with CARTER!!!  Leanne and the boys were in town from CA for the week and unfortunately Chase and I were leaving for Jamaica so we only got to see them one day.  =(  We had such a great visit and picked up right where we left off 2 years ago.  I can't believe they've been gone for that long.  We sure miss the Owen family!

R5

On the way to the lake Chase got a text from a co-worker that he was able to snag us 4 tickets to see R5 on Sunday night.  We didn't tell the girls until the way home and they were soooo excited!  The lead singer (Ross Lynch) plays the leading guy role in Austin and Ally on the Disney channel, which is one of the girls favorite shows, and he was also the star in the Teen Beach movie.  His brother Riker was on Dancing with the Stars this season.  There are 5 band members total who all have R names, hence the name R5.  It was a fun show and the girls enjoyed it.  I would say the age range was probably 8-18 with lots of screaming!  I told Chase this was a glimpse into our future.
