Madison's Dance Recital

Saturday morning was Madison's dance recital and it was held at Wylie East High School.  Since she took a combo ballet/tap class they got to perform two dances in the show this year and their costumes were just the cutest!  All the girls looked adorable up on stage and Madison did so, so great.  I really loved their music choices too.  For tap they danced to "I'm Feelin Hot, Hot, Hot" and for ballet it was a fairy song, "To The Fairies They Draw Near," maybe from one of the Tinker Bell movies???  All the music was pleasant and not the traditional orchestra style sound which was nice.
I must say that this year was a challenging one as far as getting the girl to class.  She hates tights (and most socks) and didn't like the way her shoes fit.  I even gave in and bought her brand new tap shoes a month ago and she still told me her shoes were too tight and we had tears on the last day of class.  Basically she has a problem with anything tight around her feet.  Last year her teacher let her get away with not wearing tights but this year we switched over to a real studio so I told her we had to follow the attire rules.  There were tears most weeks and several times I even considered pulling her because it was supposed to be fun and shouldn't be so hard but I'm glad she stuck with it.  And guess what, when I asked her what her favorite dance was she said TAP!  I laughed out loud.  This girl is going to do me in.  Next year we signed up for jazz and tights are not a requirement, whew.

Her dress rehearsal was Friday night minus the "dress."  Olay!

These little collars were so cute in the tap number!  They took them off for ballet and put on their tutus and wings.

Madison and Charlotte have been dancing together for the last couple years.  They both came over together from the rec center where Emma takes now with Ms. Michelle.

Madison and Audrey are friends from pre-school and it just so happened their classes overlapped a bit on the same day.  They never got to see each other but I enjoyed hanging out with her mama!

The best shots I could get from the crowd.  With no flash they have to be perfectly still to get a clear picture and at a dance recital that's hard to do!

After a great show this hungry girl chose Rosa's (shocker) for her recital lunch.

Fabulous job my little beauty queen!

Emma's First Dance Recital

On Saturday Emma had her very first dance recital and she did amazing!  I was impressed with how much she retained, she really knew her stuff.  The class had their dress rehearsal a few hours before the actual performance so she was excited to go back and do the real thing on stage.   The girls were ridiculously cute and we loved watching our little showstopper.  We laughed and laughed because their tutus were pretty poofy so she kept pushing hers down to make sure she was dancing on her designated spot. Way to go Emma!

We weren't allowed to take pictures during recital so these stage shots are from the rehearsal.

Afterwards we went home to get a snack and complete our look with stage makeup.

I had to add this picture.  On the way home from dress rehearsal we got behind the ice cream truck a street over from our house.  Emma sat patiently waiting with her money, ready to run out front, but sadly he never came (or we already missed him.)  Hopefully he will be back this summer.

Go Unicorns!

Softball season has finally started and Madison is so excited!  We had our first game Saturday morning bright and early at 8 am.  Chase is the coach and has really enjoyed getting to know all the girls.  They played amazingly well for their first game.  Each girl gets three pitches from Chase and if they don't make contact then they bring in the tee.  Madison hit both times Chase threw to her and hustled her little booty around the bases!  I'm so glad she has found a sport she is genuinely excited to practice and play.  This is going to be a really fun season with lots of sweet friends.  Now stay away rain.  Go Unicorns!

Each inning Chase rotates who plays catcher and they look so cute in all the gear!
