Madison's First Day of Kindergarten!!!!

Well it has come and gone.  The dreaded, I mean, much anticipated first day of kindergarten.  I'm so, so so, so, so, SO happy to report this morning was tear free on all parts!  After Meet the Teacher (see previous post) I wasn't so sure but we both did great.  Thursday definitely helped take the edge off.  Chase normally leaves the house by 7 but he stuck around this morning and hung out with Emma so I could just take Madison on her first day.  He dropped us off close to the door and then I walked home.  My original plan was to walk to and from school each day but it's so flippin hot right now!  It's only about a 12 minute walk but I think I'll drive as close as I can get and then walk the rest of the way.  Elementary is so much bigger than pre-school and I can already tell parking will be a challenge.  We'll just have to leave early.  This new 7:45-2:45 schedule is definitely going to take some getting used to. We are sooo not used to early mornings!

 I volunteered to help out with kinder lunch today and Madison had a couple spills so she had a few tears but she was ok.  I didn't see it but apparently she dropped all her grapes on the ground as soon as she sat down and then her water spilled all over the bottom of her dress so she was a little embarrassed, sheesh!  BUT, after school when I picked her up she was all smiles and immediately told me she made 3 new friends!  So glad she had a good first day, now if we can make it through the rest of the week...

I told Madison if she was brave and didn't cry at drop off she could pick out a special treat.  She chose "Treasure" Ariel's Palace Pet so I had it waiting for her when she got out of school.  Great job Madison!

Meet The Teacher

On Thursday we had "Meet the Teacher" at Madison's new school.  Everything would have been great except we had to drop the kids off in the gym so they could get acquainted with their new classmates and go on a scavenger hunt around the school; meanwhile the parents had a meeting in the cafeteria.  Madison DID NOT want us to leave her and clung to me for dear life.  She looked at me and started crying crocodile tears that turned into big, big sobs.  So of course, I started crying.  It was pretty bad.  A sweet teacher saw that I was "in trouble" and came over to talk to Madison and pull her off me so I could escape.  She got all teary too because both of us were a mess and said that she had twins in first grade so she went through all of this last year.  Chase quickly directed me to the nearest bathroom so I could try and compose myself but I pretty much cried on and off the entire night, even after we got home.  We hid in the back so hopefully no one paid too much attention to the crazy mom in the last row constantly wiping her eyes with a brown paper towel from the school restroom.  Whoa...It's not that I'm sad necessarily, kindergarten is just such a huge change and it's all so big and new.  This is real school now and its a little scary!  My sweet Madison is getting so big.  Ok, I have to stop now or the tears will start flowing again.
After the meeting we picked Madison up in her classroom and she was all smiles and having a great time.  It was just the initial leaving her in a new place, with new teachers, and new friends that was so, so hard.  I have no doubt she will love kindergarten!  She has Mrs. Singleton who is new to Boggess this year so they can all learn the ropes together.  She seemed super sweet so I bet Madison will love her.

Weekend Fun

 On Friday night Madison and I were invited to see our neighbor, Aubree, perform in a play...The Case of the Missing Ring.  It was such a cute performance and all the kids did a great job.  The theater was small so we got to sit in the front row.  Madison loved it, way to go Aubree!

 

Saturday was a couples shower for Michael and Britteny.  Last one before the wedding!  I didn't get any pictures but here's a preview of the super cute and very excited flower girls.  =)

Sunday we took the girls bowling since it was a super rainy day.  They both did better than me, I guess next time I need a ramp and bumpers too.  My dad's birthday was earlier in the week so we had everyone over for dinner that night to celebrate.  Chase smoked a delicious meal on the smoker and no one left hungry.  Happy Birthday Pa!

Cheep Camp

Last week Madison went to cheer camp and LOVED it.  She came home everyday showing me all her new cheers.  Chase and I would hear her in the monitor at night practicing.  On Friday they had a show off day so we got to see all she learned.  What a fun activity!

Lake Gladewater Part 2

Day 2 started out great.  It was a little overcast and really nice out in the morning but by noon the sun was out in full force and so were we!

Taking a spin in the golf cart is always a big hit so Goldie and Jill took the kids out for a morning drive.

The fish didn't seem quite as hungry as they did last year but Chase found the "sweet spot" where they were hiding around a sunken tire so we all managed to catch a few after that.

Of course we couldn't leave town without stopping by Rosie and Tom's for another yummy meal.  Their house was just as amazing as I remembered.  What a treasure!
