Today our sweet little Emma is 8 weeks old and continues to be a great baby. I say all the time that I think God gave us Madison first so we can really appreciate how easy Emma really is. Don't get me wrong, I'm still tired, we have our moments, and some days are certainly better than others, but I know that it could be a lot worse because I've experienced it first hand! She's still nursing like a champ and I haven't given her one bottle. I probably should so she figures out how to eat from one just in case I ever need to be gone more than 3 hours without her but it's been so nice not having to pump and wash all those Dr. Brown's bottle parts. We eat about every 3 hours during the day, unless she is in a deep sleep, and then she will go a little bit longer. Since about 6 weeks old she's been going around 6 and sometimes 7 hours at night which has been awesome so hopefully she keeps that up. Now, I'm not necessarily getting that much sleep all at once because it takes her a little while to fall asleep for the "night" but I'm getting more than 3 hours so it's great. Chase is the key to her peaceful slumber at night because he is a master swaddler and swaddles her nice and tight, snug as a bug in a rug, so she is all cozy in her rock in play sleeper. When Emma does wake up in the middle of the night to eat we're usually not up for more than 25 minutes. Just enough time to change her diaper, let her eat for 10-12 minutes on one side only, try and get a burp, rock for a couple minutes to be sure she's asleep, and then I do my best to swaddle her back up.
In the evenings, around 8ish or so she tends to get a little cranky so we pass her back and forth and walk around with her but these nights are starting to be less frequent. Emma still prefers to be held ALL THE TIME when she's awake, however she's starting to take to the swing a little better and will occasionally sit in it for maybe 20 minutes if she's in a good mood. I think she can focus and see farther now so she likes to watch the mobile while she's swinging back and forth. She's been trying to suck on her hand lately so I'm wondering if we're going to have another thumb sucker?? She doesn't have any limb control yet so it doesn't stay in her mouth for long. We've been getting out by ourselves a little this month and it takes some planning but I can do it. The hardest part is getting the darn double stroller in and out of the car. That thing is heavy but it's easy to maneuver and turns on a dime so I'm glad we have it.
Last week I packed up all her newborn clothes so she's now wearing 3 month outfits and in size 1 diapers. I weighed her tonight and according to our baby scale she is 10 lbs 14.5 oz. We go to the doctor on Tuesday for her 2 month check up and 5 shots, yuck!, so I'll have to post her official stats after that visit. Not looking forward to it...

Emma loves her pacifier and if she's awake it's in her mouth. She can't quite keep it there though so we are constantly putting it back in for her. I tell Chase all the time if we could come up with some invention to keep pacifiers in baby's mouths then we would be millionaires!
Emma is still not a fan of being put in her car seat but as soon as we start moving she's fine. She may be holding up her pointer finger here but pretty sure she's thinking something else!

Madison has been a really great helper and learned that if Emma is crying she needs her pacifier so she is quick to run over and try and stick it in her mouth. Half the time she puts it in upside down so I have to flip it around but it's the thought that counts right?
