Yesterday we went to see Dr. Hieber for a well visit. We got a little off on our 15 month appointment so they told me I didn't have to come back at 18 months, just sometime before she's turns 2. As always the waterworks started as soon as we went back to the exam room and I had to strip her down to be weighed. She was all caught up on shots so this was a super easy visit that did not warrant any kind of tears but the sight of a nurse or Dr. Hieber coming into the exam room sends Madison into hysterics. After prying her off me Dr. Hieber did a quick routine exam, gave her a clean bill of health, and we were out the door. Here are her stats:
Weight: 23.6 lbs (30th percentile)
Length: 34.5 inches (95th percentile)
Madison is still our long and lean petite little punkin!

Lordy, Lordy Look Who's 40!
Yesterday Stacey turned the big 4-0 so we celebrated over the weekend at Chase's parent's house. Cindy makes a delicious beef tenderloin so we had quite a tasty meal. The house was full of crazy kids, big and little, with lots of fun and definitely lots of noise. Happy Birthday Stacey, here's to a new decade!

Ho Ho Ho, Merry ER?
Saturday we decided to start decorating for the holidays and what fun would hanging Christmas lights be without a trip to the emergency room? Poor Chase was done hanging lights and went back to fix one part of a strand when the ladder shifted and he fell off onto his wrist/arm. He ran inside in a panic and his wrist swelled instantly but he could move it so we knew it wasn't broken. He had a pretty good gash as well so I talked him into letting me drive him to the ER so they could take a look at it and confirm there was no internal damage. One x-ray and a tetanus shot later and he was on his way back home with nothing more than a pretty banged up arm. He was most concerned that it would mess up his golf game but it sounds like he will be good as new in a few weeks. It's still pretty swollen and the bruise is getting worse by the day but I think he'll live.
The best part of the story is that earlier in the day I put one of our cordless phones on the hood of my car since we were outside hanging the lights. Well, I forgot it was there and didn't bring it before we dashed out the door. I actually just dropped Chase off and then Jeff went back up there so Madison wouldn't have to sit in the waiting room. Anyway when he called to give me the report I could only find one of the phones and I remembered I had it on my car. I figured it flew off in the yard but after hunting around I couldn't find it. I told Chase to be on the look out for it on the way home and sure enough, he spotted it half way down the street! It's pretty beat up but it still works, just like Chase's arm....ha ha ha!

Thanksgiving
I hope everyone had a nice Turkey Day! This year we were with my parents for Thanksgiving so we had a nice, relaxing day eating lots of good food and scoping out all the black Friday ads. My parents were nice enough to come out to our house Thanksgiving night so we could get up early Friday morning to do some Christmas shopping. We made our list, we checked it twice, we woke up at 5:15, and we shopped like crazy until about noon. Most of our holiday shopping is now complete, woo hoo, let the holidays begin!

Scary
Today we had a super scary moment that could have ended a lot worse. Madison and I were playing upstairs and when Chase got home from golf it was nap time so he took her down and put her in her crib. He walked out of her room, turned on the monitor, and then a few seconds later there was a loud crash, a screaming baby, and a screaming Chase. I raced downstairs as fast as I could. Madison had somehow fallen out of her crib! I have no idea how she did this and hopefully she doesn't either because I don't think she's ready for a toddler bed yet. It's not unusual for her to stand up in her crib but she's never tried to climb out. Chase said as soon as he heard the thud he looked in the monitor and saw no Madison so he knew what had happened and started freaking out. He picked her up off the floor and then I grabbed her and rocked and sang to her until she calmed down. She had a little bit of blood on her nose but I think it was more of a carpet burn from landing on her face. I'm pretty sure she's going to have a black eye but I think it scared her more than anything. We are so thankful she didn't break any bones. For now we are going to leave the crib the way it is and watch the monitor like a hawk until she's fully asleep, thank God for video monitors! I think there's a canopy we can buy to prevent her from getting out so if she tries to climb out again we will have to buy one to keep her in the crib for a while longer.
Happy 85!
Last night we celebrated Chase's grandfather's 85th birthday. We went to dinner at Mario and Alberto's and then went to Chase's parents house for cake and presents. As soon as we sat down I ordered Madison something to eat because it was past her normal dinner time so she ate and was ready to run around before the rest of us had even ordered. We were quickly reminded of why we don't go out to eat with her very often. Chase I and took turns taking her outside so she could walk around. Oh the joys of toddlerhood!
Chase told Madison to try a bite of lime. Look at that face! She kept tasting it so I guess she didn't mind it too much.

20 Months
Holy Cow is Madison really 20 months old today? That sounds so old! Madison has definitely blossomed into a little bracelet wearing, shoe loving, hair brushing, baby doll pushing little girl. I keep thinking there's not much more she can do in a month's time but she always surprises us by how much she learns and the new things she comes up with. Here's some things Madison's been up to lately:
-She's getting better at forming small sentences of three and four, sometimes more, words like "Daddy are you" for Daddy where are you. She likes to scream this at either me or Chase when she knows we are here but she can't see us.
-when she needs help she says, "help you" instead of "help me" in the most pathetic little voice.
-whenever I sneeze she says, "Achoo Mommy" with a big grin on her face. It's her own sweet way of saying bless you.
-her newest thing is when you ask her something she wants to do she says, "OK."
-Madison can half way say her ABC's which I think she picked up from Gym Dandies. If we start the alphabet she will fill in a letter or two when we stop and then we'll say a few more letters and she will fill in some more.
-she can count to about 8 but sometimes skips a number so we have to fill it in
-we're working on colors but right now she says everything is blue and sometimes pink or yellow
-talking on the phone has been one of her favorite things this month. She will say "hi daddy or mimi or gram or whoever she's talking to and then if they ask her questions she will say "ya". My dad is the first one she actually talked and said ya to. And then she says bye Pa or Michael or the name of whoever it is that's on the phone.
-she's still a parrot and will repeat anything we ask or don't ask her to say
-still loves to dance to her Go Phish CD on a daily basis. Madison's favorite song is "No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed." As soon as it comes on she crawls up on her ottoman and tries to jump up and down so I don't think she quite gets the message of the song.
We bought her a Christmas Disney princess book that plays Christmas carols so this has brought entertainment not only to Madison but anyone who's around to watch her dance to the music.
-there's a new show on Nick Jr. called Dino Dan that she loves. It's about dinosaurs and she gets so excited when it comes on
-as soon as she wakes up in the morning or from a nap she immediately puts on as many bracelets as she can find and puts on her beaded necklaces too.
-Daddy introduced her to sweet tea and she's a fan
-finally got another tooth which puts her up to 9. I looked in her mouth the other day and noticed that one of her bottom molars was half way in. Luckily she's still a great teether and never has any symptoms or shows signs of discomfort when they come in.
Madison has figured out how to take her shirt off....
but sometimes she gets stuck and very upset!

Here's Madison showing me her "monkey shoes." I recently bought her some footie pajamas since it's getting cooler and she hasn't had any since last winter so when I put them on her she thought she was wearing shoes. Since they have monkeys on the feet she calls them monkey shoes
My mom's good friend Julie came to visit from Midland so they stopped by to see Madison
Madison has discovered these three little cabinets in our kitchen are not baby proofed so she loves to open and close them. If she opens one she opens them all and if she closes one she closes them all.

These little characters have brought Madison much joy this month. Recently Chase's parents and sister's family went to Disney World and brought Madison back these "people" as she calls them. If she moves one she moves them all and they go back and forth between the stairs, the fireplace, the coffee table, and anywhere else she wants to put them. Here they are on the stairs....

Baby Cole
Last night we went to go see Andy, Megan, Parker and of course baby Cole. Madison kept adding a "d" on the end of his name so he was baby Cole"d" for the evening. He is so sweet and we're glad that he's here!
Last Gym Dandies
Yesterday we had our last Gym Dandies class so now all our activities are officially over until the new year. I've noticed the biggest improvement with Gym Dandies since we started going in May. Madison has learned how to say, "Yes, yes I am here," when called upon. She has learned how to share an instrument with her neighbor and she has learned how to pick up toys at the end of class. It took her a while to get used to Ms. Marie but now she will give her hugs and tell her bye when it's time to go. We can't wait for the next session to start!

Last Tiny Tots Class
Yesterday Ms. Holly held our last Tiny Tots class of the semester. It was show and tell day so Mimi tagged along to participate in all the fun. I'm not sure what we're going to do until January because story time ended Tuesday, music class ended yesterday, and Gym Dandies ends tomorrow. I'm going to have to come up with some fun festive activities to get us out of the house.
We were the first ones to arrive so Madison had all the shakers to herself
