On the 23rd Emma turned 21 months old! She really is getting so big and tries desperately to keep up and do everything just like her big sister, and she does a great job. We've been enjoying the lazy days of summer and have been keeping busy with gymnastics, swimming, and a whole lot of nothing. Our Galveston trip is coming up in a few weeks so we are very much looking forward to that. Emma is getting better verbally but I would still not consider her a talker, which can get very frustrating at times. She'll say, or attempt to say, a handful of words and we can always understand what she wants but a stranger would probably have no idea what she was talking about. We recently acquired the Laurie Berkner CD Whaddaya Think Of That and both girls love it so we listen to it about 67 times a day, no lie. Lots and lots of singing and dancing going on in this house. Emma is good about demanding your attention and she will literally grab your face and turn it toward her if she is trying to "talk" to you or show you something. Or she will shake her finger at you and say, "Hey, Hey" before she does something she wants you to see.
For whatever reason putting on pajamas is like WWIII between Emma and I and you would think I was chopping off a toe, not sure what all that is about. She still loves her bed though and has no problem taking a nap or going to sleep at night, as long as she has her paci and her blankie. This girl loooves to have her back scratched and is always laying down next to me while grunting and hitting her back so i will scratch it, silly girl. When the TV is on during the day it pretty much stays on Disney Jr. but Bubble Guppies and Team Umizoomi are her favorite shows before bed.
I know Emma is almost 2 but she still seems like a baby to me. Probably because of her paci and her blankie, her clinginess, her cute little diaper bottomed waddle, her inability to sit still, her cave man like grunts and whines to get what she wants, her constant mischieviosness, and all of those awesome baby rolls, but I know one day all of a sudden I'll look up and she'll be 10 and I'll wonder what happened. Mimi said it best when she pointed out that Emma always has a gleam in her eye!
Emma loves to help me sort laundry. She literally crawls into the laundry basket and throws out all the clothes. She also loves to "help" unload the dishwasher and put away all her cups, plates, and silverware.
Chase and I always laugh and say Emma is our disheveled child. It's mainly just in the afternoon after nap time when her hair is crazy, her clothes don't look quite the same as they did in the morning, and she is running around barefoot screaming like a banshee without a care in the world. Oh to be footloose and fancy free!
Emma really loves the pool and is fearless. She is not afraid to jump off the side

Madison and Emma are both taking gymnastics at ASI (at the same time) and they love it. I was a little worried during Emma's first class because we were right next to Madison's class and she kept running over to do what Madison was doing. Luckily she has improved over the last two weeks so I'm not chasing her around the gym anymore.
As I've mentioned, she's my brave little nugget and has no problem jumping off the mat to the foam below
