Cutest Little Bee I Ever Did See....

Last Wednesday we went to our first carnival to kick off our fun Halloween week. This year Madison is dressing up as a bumble bee or a "buzzy bee" as she says. My mom came across this super cute bee costume at Cracker Barrel and it's been a big hit.

Yesterday we went to our neighborhood carnival for round 2 and then went to Jill and Jeff's to carve pumpkins.

Then we stopped at Walmart to pick up a pumpkin and it was off to Jill's. Funny sidenote. Jill and Jeff moved a couple months ago so we are still getting used to going to their new house. Chase and I were talking and obviously not paying attention so we didn't notice that we turned down one street too soon. We stopped at the second house on the right, Madison and I were out of the car with our pumpkin and bag, ringing the door bell and knocking on the door before Chase looked up with Emma and said, "This is the wrong house!" Thankfully no one answered so we jumped back in the car and made our way to the right place, whoops.

Daddy worked vigorously on Madison's Hello Kitty pumpkin but it proved to be more of a challenge than he thought!




Don't worry, Emma has been with us during all our Halloween fun doing what she does best. Sleeping!

Owen's Farm

Today we met Jill, Kylie, Hayden, and Gram out at Owen's Farm. It was super crowed but it didn't really matter, we were still able to do and see everything there is to see. Mimi came over this morning to help me get the girls ready and allow me to take a shower. Having 2 kids is definitely a game changer and getting out the door in a timely fashion is not easy, especially when you have to time it just right with nursing. Speaking of which, after I fed Emma I put her over my shoulder to burp her and she immediately projectile vomited all over me and her. So much for my freshly washed, blow dried, and flat ironed hair. Needless to say it was a pony tail day for me. Oh well, such is the life of a mommy with a new born.

One Month Old

Today Emma is one month old! This month has gone surprisingly smooth, I was expecting to be a lot worse but Emma continues to be a pretty good baby. She tends to sleep a lot during the day and then gets fussy in the evenings between 7 and 8 and Chase and I pass her back and forth until she eventually goes to sleep for the "night." She's still quite the chow hound and it shows! During the day she tends to eat every couple hours unless she's in a really deep sleep and then she will go a little longer. The nights vary, sometimes it's every two hours, other times it's 3 and sometimes even 4. Last night was a record. Emma ate about 12:15 and Chase swaddled her and she was out by 1 and slept till after 5! I'm hoping for lots more nights like that one. We weighed her last night after bath time and our scale said she is 9 lbs and 13 oz! Madison weighed this much at 8 weeks old but she also had a lot of catching up to do. Emma is our little rollie pollie who never misses a meal. I can't tell you how great it is not having washed a single bottle since we brought her home. If I never see a Dr. Brown's bottle again it will be all right with me!
Emma still makes all her crazy noises and funny faces. She is not a fan of being on her back when she's awake which means she hasn't taken to the bouncy seat or the swing. I can only sneak her in them when she's in a deep sleep and doesn't realize I'm putting her down. She will tolerate the bouncy seat for a little while if it's vibrating but it doesn't pacify her for long. Her favorite spot is laying on the chest of whoever is holding her. I think she's going to be a good tummy sleeper once her head and neck get stronger. Speaking of her head she has been throwing it around since birth so she is a strong little cookie. When Emma gets fussy she likes to walk around and have her bottom patted so we do this a lot at night. Also she likes to lay on her changing table for a little bit and look around her room.
Last week we transitioned into size one diapers and she's still in newborn clothes but I don't think those will last too much longer.
