Weekend Fun

On Saturday Chase and I had the pleasure of spending a child free night at the Westin Stonebriar in Frisco.  His dad won a free stay and breakfast for two in a golf tournament and we were the lucky couple who got to cash it in, thanks Grandad!  And a big thank you to my parents who took the girls to Storybook Ranch during the day and watched them Saturday night while we were away.  Chase and I had a fabulous worry free day, leisurely shopping without 2 kids in tow.  After a full day of retail therapy we checked into the hotel and took a little snooze before a yummy dinner at Blue Mesa.  Since we weren't in a rush we actually enjoyed dinner and ordered an appetizer before our meal.  After eating ourselves into a food coma we went back to the hotel and took another little nap.  Then we decided dessert sounded good so around 10 we went to the Cheesecake Factory for a sweet treat and coffee.  It was so nice to be able to do whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted!  On Sunday we had a delicious buffet breakfast where I had the most amazing omelet, yummy!  Then back up to the room for another little rest before checking out.  Do you see a theme here, lots of little naps!  It was soon back to reality with a trunk or treat and a church carnival with the kids.

Chase's dad had us and Chase's two sisters right a short, funny "essay" about what it's really like to be a parent and then he drew a name to see who would win the free night at the Westin.  Here's our entry, hope it makes you laugh:
  • Diapering should be considered an Olympic sport. It requires great skill and speed, otherwise you either get pissed off or pissed on
  • Leaving the house with 2 small children can go one of two ways: bad or horribly bad
  • Dora, Diego, and Doc McStuffins feel like family members
  • I can now add human jungle gym to my list of many talents
  • vacationing with small children requires days of preparation
  • I can sing smashing renditions of all the theme songs on Nick Jr. and Disney Jr.
  • If I don't sigh, scream, or swear in the first 10 minutes after the kids are awake then it's a good start to the day
  • I never appreciated the phrase, "who are these kids and why are they calling me mom?" until I had kids of my own
  • I sure love my babies but Chase will be getting a vasectomy for Christmas, ho ho ho....

Dressed and ready for dinner

My Glamorous Witch!  I actually took these pics last week and never posted them so here's our round one photo shoot of Madison's witch costume.  I found her costume at Cracker Barrel for a very reasonable price compared to other similar style costumes.  I know it's a random place that you wouldn't typically think of but they don't disappoint!  Her bumble bee costume from last year came from there too.

We found the jewels and black marker that we used last Halloween so of course we had to incorporate them again this year.

Trunk or Treat at Madison's school with her friend Carter.  Cutest little witch and dragon I ever did see!

These two insisted on holding hands the whole time, so cute!  I bought the headband Madison is wearing for me but it was a bit windy and her hat wouldn't stay on so I put it on her instead.  I actually think I like it better than the hat!

After Trunk or Treat we went home to pick up daddy and Emma and went to Leanne's church carnival.

Wicked Witch of the West!

Madison and her new friend "dark vador" as she called him.  She LOVED him and was distraught on the way home because she didn't get to tell him bye when we left.  And by distraught I mean she cried the whole way home!

Emma got her fist taste of a dum dum sucker when we got home and was a very sticky, happy mess!

Carrie Underwood

Last night I went to Carrie Underwood, or Carrie Underwear as Madison lovingly calls her, with 6 of my Kappa girls and we had the best time.  We met at Primos for dinner and then all piled in together and headed to AAC for the concert.  The show was really great and Carrie was amazing.  What a fun girls night!

Owens Farm

Over the last week we've had not one but two fun trips to Owens Farm.  The first one was last Thursday when we met Leanne and Nathan and Heather and Grayson after dropping the older kids off at school.  It was nice to just chase after one kid for a change and it was fun to just hang with just the babies, who really aren't so much babies any more.  Sniff, Sniff.  Here's round one....

Nathan and Emma checking each other out.  Look Mom, A Boy!

This is about as close as the kids got to the goats, they were pretty aggressive.

Checking out the tractor on the hay ride.  I had to pry her hands off the wire when it started, she was holding on for dear life!

She loved the fat little pigs, probably because they were at her eye level and just her size.

Come back little piggie!

Off to find the perfect pumpkin...

...only she found this perfect pumpkin stem instead and was quite proud of herself.

Our little Cutie Patooties

And now for Round 2.  On Monday we met our friend Alyssa out at the farm and did it all over again.  We got there right when it opened at 9 and I'm glad we did because it got crowded!

Since we got there early the giant horses were still in their stalls eating breakfast so we got to pet their noses

The highlight of this trip was definitely the train ride.  Madison wanted to ride it as soon as we got there and I made her wait till the end and she could hardly stand it.
