23 Months

It's hard to believe in just one short month Madison will be a whopping two years old. In some ways I feel like she's been with us for longer than two years because I can hardly remember what life was like with out her. She's quite the bossy little diva these days and tells everyone what she wants them to do and where she wants them to go. She'll come and grab me by the hand and say, "come on mommy, let's go this way." Here's some of the other things she's up to:

-The phrases we've heard the most this month are, "I can do it," "I'm a big girl," and "All by myself." Madison has definitely found her independence and wants to do most things with no help from anyone else.
-she's finally getting some more teeth! Two new top and two new bottom teeth are making their way through the surface. For the longest time on the bottom Madison only had her two front teeth and her one year molars so we were starting to get concerned there weren't any more in there!
-she locked herself in our room last week so that was a fun adventure. She discovered the lock on our door so I knew it was only a matter of time before she locked us out. Luckily Chase was here and able to fit a small screwdriver between the door and the wall to push the door open. That screwdriver is readily available for the next time she does this!
-Lately we've been giving her a koozie with her juice and her milk cups because they make her hands so cold. She calls it a cozy.
-when she gets up in the morning she always says, "I had a good nap." And when she goes to bed at night she always tells us, "sweet dreams." =)
-she gets in moods where she wants one particular person to do things like change her diaper, do her hair, put on her shoes...sometimes it's daddy and recently it's been pa and grandad when we've been at either of their houses.
-She is quite hilarious these days and constantly has us laughing at the things she says and the way she says them so matter of fact. Today we went to the park and on the way home we asked her if she had fun and she said, "Ya I sure did." Normally when we ask her if she did something she will say, "Ya I did."
-she's always asking or should I say yelling, "where are you?" or "what are you doing?"
-Her favorite show right now is probably Scooby Doo and she requests to watch it all the time so we have to find it on On Demand. I thought the monsters in each episode might scare her but she just laughs and growls at them when they come on.

It's hard to see but here's her current and new teeth

She still likes to snuggle when she watches TV

Her legs and feet are CONSTANTLY moving and she has to be touching anyone sitting close to her

Sassafras!

Sharing ice cubes with Arnie

We've been all about pony tails recently and I think it makes her look so big!

I had the bouncy seat out for Cole's sip and see and when Madison came home she immediately crawled in it and made herself comfortable.

Happy 23 months Madison!

Sip and See

Yesterday Lisa and I hosted a Sip and See for sweet baby Cole at our house. He was an angel the entire time and never made a peep! Here's a few pictures from the party.

Parker came too and enjoyed helping mommy open some gifts.

Happy Birthday Grandad

Yesterday we had a big day of birthday parties! We started out by going to baby Will's first birthday. I was so busy chasing Madison around that I didn't snap any pictures but we sure had a good time. Afterwards we went to Chase's parents house to celebrate Grandad's birthday. Here's a few pictures from birthday party number 2.

All snuggled up watching Dora and Diego

Madison heard Jill ask Kylie if she needed to go potty a few times so she ran up to me and said, "mommy I need to go potty." I kind of laughed and said ok. So I took her to the bathroom and sat her on the potty. The funny thing is she actually went! She was quite proud of herself and told everyone she was a big girl and went potty. I wouldn't say she's ready for full fledged potty training but we are definitely putting her on the potty more and more.

I didn't know Grandad was such a big Thomas the Train fan. =)

Grandad and his little helpers

He let the girls sneak a bite of icing and then Madison said, "I need more." We all busted out laughing. She's definitely my daughter. Happy Birthday Grandad!

Cupcakes

Yesterday we went to visit Mimi, Pa, and Uncle Michael. They were feeling a little Madison deprived since we haven't seen them in a while due to the weather. Mimi and Madison made pink Valentine's Day cupcakes and then we all had a tea party.

After nap time it was time to frost the cupcakes

Ta Daa!

Uncle Michael is an excellent tea pourer

Cheers! Funny how someone so small has us all wrapped around her little finger.

Snow Day

Will someone please explain to me how we went to bed in Texas and woke up in Colorado? Holy Moly we woke up to a ton of snow on Friday and it was way more exciting than the previous days of ice. We played in the backyard for a while and then decided to walk down the street and sled down the big hill. Now that was fun! I think Madison's hands got cold so she got really fussy after about 20 minutes but it was a blast while it lasted.

I'm not sure who had more fun in the snow: Arnie, Chase, or Madison. Arnie loved the snow and would have jumped and run around in it all day if we would have let him.

Madison's favorite thing was clearing all the snow off her sand and water table

Taking a bite out of snow

Who says pool floats are just for the pool?

And away she goes....

Again, Again!

Snow ice cream, yummy!

Iced In

Ok, I am officially bored now. So what do you do when you are stuck in the house for three days?

We painted our nails

Made a sticker masterpiece

Talked on the phone

checked our e-mail (Madison picked up this calculator and when I asked her what she was doing she said, "checkin emails" I started cracking up.)

reverted back to baby land and crawled in the doll pack n play

and watched entirely too much TV

Oh yeah and we stayed in our pajamas for most of the day. We did decide to make a trip outside for a few minutes

but then this happened...
oooppsie

which led to this

so back inside we went. After two days of being at home Chase had to go into the office yesterday and after his 2.5 hour drive home we decided to escape the house and went to Mooyah Burger for dinner and walked around Target to get the blood circulating again. Today, however, looks like a very promising fun snow day so stay tuned!
