This morning when Madison woke up her rash appeared to be getting worse so I called her pediatrician and we headed in to get checked out. Of course she cried and clung to me for dear life as soon as Dr. Hieber walked in the room but thankfully he didn't have to do much to come to his diagnosis. In short he said it was not an allergic reaction but rather a viral infection that is extremely common. He said there are about 70 different strains that all come with different symptoms but it's nothing to be concerned about and no medicine is required. It should clear up on it's own in a few days and he said although keeping her from being around other kids is not necessary he might keep her isolated just so other people don't stare and think she has some sort of disease! Glad to know it's nothing too terrible. I'm sure we'll experience all sorts of weird stuff over the next several years.
We went over to my mom's house after the doctor so Madison could swing outside, she loves their tree swing, and get in some good Mimi time. I went to run errands when Madison took her nap and on the way back to my mom's house the air in my car stopped blowing, ug. Thankfully it didn't happen yesterday when we were driving two hours each way back and forth to Bogata. 100 degrees and no air conditioning equals a ridiculously hot car! I took it up to the auto shop by my parents house and Chase had to come pick us up after work so I am carless. Hopefully they will call tomorrow with an easy and cheap, fingers crossed, fix. I hate dealing with car stuff.

Spots
Yesterday we went to Bogata for my Granny's 89th birthday. Madison had fun playing with her cousins, running around outside, and petting the "meow-meows". She started to break out in a rash and I thought it was from the heat but today it was much worse so I called the doctor. They said she probably had an allergic reaction to something so just keep an eye on her and give her Benadryl every 6 hours. She's never been around cats before so I'm wondering if she may be allergic to meow-meows or maybe there was just something in the grass out there. Her poor head has been itchy all day so hopefully the medicine will kick in and tomorrow will be better. Here's a few pictures of her first rash, poor baby!

It's hard to see in the picture but tiny red dots cover her torso and back
Tonight after her popsicle we put her in the shower because she already had one bath today. This afternoon her second dose of Benadryl was not as successful as the first so she was a sticky mess once I got it all down her. And she decided to stick her hands in the toilet so into the tub she went, gross! Anyway our shower head is on a removable hose so it's great to wash off dogs and babies. This is the second time Madison has been in the shower and she loves it.

Birthday Bash
On Saturday night we had a 30th birthday celebration for Chase and 4 other high school friends at Zephyr's down on Greenville. The Hamburger Man was there with his delicious burgers and fixins to feed our crew. We had the patio pretty much to ourselves and it was a fun, low key evening with cheap drinks and good friends. Doesn't get much better than that!

Storytime Live
Last night Jill and I took the girls to see Storytime Live. I was a little nervous about containing Madison through an hour and half show but she did pretty well. I would give her overall behavior a B- on the rating scale and I never had to carry her out screaming so that's a positive, right? When we got to our spot I put Madison in her seat so I could get situated but she wasn't heavy enough to hold the seat down so it folded up with her in it, tears! She was in my lap for the entire evening which I figured she would be anyway. At first she wasn't quite sure what to think and was holding on to me pretty tight but by the end she was dancing to all the songs and pointing to the stage. Kylie was terrified of Moose, who narrates in between stories, so she was in the floor hiding for the first few minutes. Ni Hao Kai Lan was first followed by The Backyardigans then a 15 minute intermission. The last two stories were The Wonder Pets and Dora the Explorer. Dora was Madison's favorite and held her attention the best. We had an aisle seat so of course she wanted to climb up and down the stairs since that's one of our favorite things to do. I had to distract her with bites of hot dog, a million gold fish, and of course some cotton candy. We were both a mess by the end but I think she enjoyed it. I didn't get many pictures but here's the few I did get.

Oh and here's a random picture from this morning. Chase brought in a ladder to change out the batteries in our fire alarms and change the air filters. I was trying to keep Madison in the other room so she wouldn't be right under Chase's feet but she wanted to watch daddy. When he went to the garage for something Madison disappeared around the corner and a few seconds later this is what I found, Monkey see Monkey do! She's in a climbing stage right now....

17 Months
As of today Madison is a busy little 17 month old. Time is definitely flying by and we are constantly surprised by everything she's learning. Her vocabulary is growing by the day and the never ending jibber jabber cracks us up. Thanks to The Big Word book she knows all her body parts, can make all the basic animal sounds and will act out other things on the pages such as laugh, sing, cry, stretch, jump, etc. This book is one of her favorites and has taught her a lot! Here's some of the other things she's been up to over the past month:
-when she wakes up she grabs her bunny and as we lift her out of the crib she throws it back down to the mattress below and laughs
-loves to turn on the bath tub in our room
-throws a fit if you try and carry her downstairs, wants to do it by herself but will at least hold my hand
-great at saying family members names, especially her cousin Kylie. If we say we are going to see Kylie or say anything remotely close to the name Kylie, Madison gets super excited and says her name over and over and OVER again
-loves her sound machine and MUST turn it on every time we are in her room
-dances to her Party Like A Preschooler CD by Go Fish and knows all the songs
-finally getting another tooth on the top which makes 7 teeth total
-Barney and Friends has been added to our daily line up of cartoons
-when asked if she wants to get the mail she runs to the front door, gets on her tip toes and tries to turn the handle
-her running is hilarious, it's part skip and part hop
-for all you Sproutlets out there she likes to stretch with Nina at 8:30 just before bed. Sprout and Nick Jr are our favorite channels
-got her first My Little Pony and loves to brush it's hair
-likes to play peek a boo behind the sheers in her room
ravioli has become one of her favorite foods but it sure is messy!
loves, loves, loves her "bebes" (babies)
plays dress up in my shoes, jewelry, and make up
popsicles are her favorite after dinner treat
we've graduated to the giant grocery carts at the store because it's the only way she will sit still
I think she could quite possibly be the happiest baby ever!

Lost Pines Day 3 & 4
The mornings at the resort were pretty quiet and we had our pick of chairs at the pool so it was nice to enjoy the facility before it filled up. Sunday was the busiest day with a lot of people checking in and out but Monday-Wednesday was pretty quiet.

Lost Pines Day 2
It was quite a reality check this morning when I woke up and there was no delicious breakfast waiting for me! I have to say we were quite impressed with the food at Lost Pines. There were a couple places to choose from but we ate in the Firewheel cafe each day because it was so tasty.
Madison was fascinated with this wind up inch worm Mimi brought her. She also had a wind up butterfly and a back flipping frog but she was not a fan of the frog
Exploring
We looked for butterflies in the Butterfly Meadow but I think it was too hot for them because we didn't see many
Who says pool floats are just for the pool? They also make a great cushion for watching cartoons
Pool Time
The lazy river was our favorite part. This little tube had a bottom in it and was the perfect size for Madison. She loved holding on to the handles.
Here we come!
Floating in the river was quite relaxing and Madison was so relaxed she decided to take a little snooze. Now this is a vacation!

Madison took Mimi her goldfish so she could have a bed time snack and she kept holding her foot up for Pa to tickle it, can we say spoiled?! She definitely enjoyed her grandparent time.
