Pretty Pretty Princess Camp

Last week Madison went to Pretty Pretty Princess Camp which was her very first camp.  It was a huge deal because I have never actually left her before.  Her previous activities have typically been about 45 minutes so I have always waited and most things have either involved me or she has been able to see me watching her so this was a new experience!  She was so excited to go but definitely bawled when it was time for me to go home.  I felt bad leaving her the first day so I stuck around a few minutes in the hall to be sure she was ok and she quickly stopped crying once they got started and put on their tiaras.  There were only 5 little girls in the camp, one of them being her cousin Kylie, so I know they all got lots of attention.  The camp was Monday-Thursday for 2 hours and she told me each day that she was going to cry when I dropped her off so at least she gave me fair warning, little stinker.  This was good practice for pre-school and I'm sure there will be lots of tears for a while.  She had a blast though and on Thursday they had a show off day for all the moms.  It was soooo cute and I'm really impressed at all the stuff they did in such a short time.  They had a few choreographed dances, a skit where each girl had a line to say into the microphone, and they made a super cute princess craft.  On the last day they all got to wear a princess costume, so of course Madison wanted to wear her Tangled dress, and they got to wear makeup.

The older lady behind them was one of the teachers and she used to own a dance studio for years and years.  My mom picked Madison up from class one day and said that Ms. Jeannie actually taught her baton when she was 10, how crazy is that?

Here's her poster and on the right below it is the craft she made.  They had a photographer come take their picture one day and then they filled in the skirt with tissue paper that you twist and then put on a pencil eraser and glue on the sheet.  It turned out super cute and we hung it up in her room.  The teacher said Madison did most of it all by herself and wanted everything to be "thus and so".  If that doesn't sound like Madison then I don't know what does!

Girls Weekend(s)

As previously mentioned, I've been able to escape for not one but two fun girls weekends this month with college friends who I don't see nearly enough.  A couple weeks ago nine of us were able to meet up at Robin's lake house in Granbury for a great weekend.  It was so nice to catch up, laugh, and reminisce about our Kappa days.  And not having to change a poopie diaper all weekend was a definite plus!  This was the first time I've left the girls since Emma's been born so it was a much needed get away.

Last weekend my mom and I drove to New Braunfels for Stephanie's baby shower.  We stopped along the way and shopped at the Round Rock outlets and the San Marcos outlets so that was fun.  I forget how nice it is to shop without children!  Since I was gone the full weekend before we only stayed Friday night and headed back after the shower on Saturday but we walked around Gruene for a little while first.

We stayed at this cute little B&B called Prince of Solms Inn.  There was even a fun piano bar in the basement.

 Poor Steph has been on bed rest for the past few weeks.  We're hoping she and baby Bossley can hang on another month so he can bake as long as possible!

Well, I feel like I blinked and July is just about gone.  I guess that's what happens in the Summertime when you are out having fun.  We've been all over the place this month doing this and that and I even managed to sneak away for not one but two girls weekends, more on that later.  Here are some pictures from the last few weeks.

Happy 4th of July!

Rebecca and Lula were in town for a little while after we got back from Galveston so the girls had fun playing together.  Sure wish they lived closer!

Madison has been dressing up in her pricess attire lately so I signed her up for a princess camp.  That gets it's own post!

 I'm so proud of the progress Madison has made swimming this year.  After her Emler session ended I enrolled her in an 8 session private lesson with a woman in the neighborhood and she has been swimming on her own ever since.  I think it was the goggles that gave her the confidence she needed.

Stacey, Jill, and I all bought a Groupon for the new Jump Street that opened up by Studio Movie Grill so we decided to check it out with all the kids.  Madison and Hayden were restricted to this little area but it's all they needed!
