The Zoo

Yesterday we decided to make use of our membership and headed to the zoo with some friends. It was a pretty and very warm day and while we weren't running from the bees that seemed to be following us everywhere we saw lots of animals. I wasn't brave enough to take both kids so I left Emma with my parents and I'm so glad I did. It was much easier on me and nice to have some Madison time. She's very anti-picture right now and runs or hides as soon as she sees me get the camera out so I didn't take very many pictures but here's a few I did get of her back side...

We tried to go the opposite direction from the crowd and headed to see the koalas and kangaroos first
Carter, Madison, Addison, and Colton

Cute girls dressed in pink

Madison's hand is right on top of the tiger.  He wasn't out when we visited last month so it was fun to see him this time.

Petting the camel

The "rhinanosauce" also know as a rhinoceros

Madison and Colton, gotcha!  She's not smiling but this is the only shot I got of her face (only because she didn't run away fast enough)

Time for lunch
Checking out the elephants and hiding behind the stroller canopy because I pulled out the camera

 The lion sleeps tonight

We got a great view of the lions because they were all napping in the shade by the glass

Looking for the gorillas

Taking a turn in the wagon.  At least Addison wasn't afraid of the camera

Then  it was home to this little monkey who it sounds like did ok without me for the day.  She loves to give me lots of slobbery kisses/bites to the face

7 Months

Today Emma is 7 months old!  She's still an extreme mama's girl and does not like to be out of my sight for a minute.  They biggest thing we've done this month is introduce baby food and this girl likes to eat!  She can polish off an entire level 1 container of a vegetable and a fruit.  Since she's a sitter we've tried a couple level 2 foods and she's done fine so we will continue to try those from now on.  They have a lot more mixtures and varieties so I'm sure she will like them.  Here's some other stuff she's been up to this month:
  • so so so close to crawling and I'm not ready for it!  She has the scoot/army crawl down and can definitely get where she wants to go
  • has finally found her toes
  • she hasn't been sleeping through the night this past month so we've been getting up for a 3 am feeding and then a 6 am feeding before she's up at 9
  • she's a nighttime pooper which leads to some pretty gnarly diapers in the morning
  • no teeth yet but still gnawing on everything
  • wearing size 3 diapers
  • can still wear some of her 3-6 month outfits as well as her 6 month clothes
Here's Emma loving her some carrots!  As you can see she is quite the messy eater and likes to spit food everywhere so I usually end up wearing a bunch of it as well
Here's a similar picture of Madison covered in peas around the same age

We went to the Arboretum last week and I got a couple cute pics of Emma but Madison was not interested in posing for the camera.  I'm glad I have at least one who will cooperate!

    Practicing her scoot

     Got it!

Since she's a pretty good sitter now I put her in the shopping cart for the first time and of course she loved it so we put her in a high chair at dinner over the weekend and she liked being able to look around and sit up like a big girl

Chase gave her some fruit in the mesh bag thingie and she gnawed on it for quite a while

    Kisses from Arnie

    Sweet little bobo

Here she is getting up on all 4's wanting so badly to crawl

It looks like she's doing a baby push up

The girls definitely love taking baths together, Emma loves to splash in the tub

    Happy 7 months Emma bear!

Highlandette Revue

On Friday night I took Madison to the Highlandette drill team show at Lake Highlands.  I was a Dette back  in high school and this year marks their 50th anniversary so the theme was a Magical 50 Years.  It was fun to show Madison the girls with the "high kicks" as she called them.  The show was a full 2 hour so I took lots of snacks but she did great and was very attentive of all the dances.

Here we are with Mimi during intermission

Madison and Julie.  Julie is one of my mom's friends and she was the Dette captain back in '73-'74

Happy Easter

I hope everyone had a fun Easter week.  We kicked ours off on Wednesday with a trip to the Bass Pro Shop to visit the Easter Bunny.  Madison loved him and Emma had no problem being handed off.

Afterwards we went downstairs and ate at their fish restaurant where I captured this little jewel.  I love this picture of Emma and Chase!  I wish Madison was in it but she was being a little toot and did not want to take any pictures.  The food was delicious and we had a prime spot on the patio overlooking the lake so we kind of felt like we were on vacation.  It was a great atmosphere and there was a fenced in sand area the kids loved playing in after dinner.  We will definitely go back.

After swimming lessons on Thursday we headed to my Granddaddy's house to let Madison hunt Easter eggs in his garden.

Madison was too interested in what was inside her eggs to smile for the camera

Saturday we had a picnic at the park followed by a long walk which resulted in Arnie jumping in the pond after the ducks.  Madison thought that was pretty funny.  After nap time we went to Jill's to dye Easter eggs.  I was helping Madison so I didn't get any pictures but we had fun before heading home to await the Easter Bunny.  On Sunday morning Madison anxiously came downstairs to check out her Easter basket and then went on an Easter egg hunt in the backyard before we headed to church.

A ballerina barbie

and the star of the basket...TANGLED.  Madison loves this movie and we used to stream it off netflix but we recently cancelled it so the Easter bunny put it in her basket.

Madison is a huge fan of PEZ so she was very excited to find some in her basket

As soon as Madison was done hunting eggs, Emma woke up so we had to show her what was in her basket

This tube of M&Ms was a huge hit because it makes noise when she shakes it

My little Easter bunnies

Not sure what the girls were looking at but this is the best picture we got of the 3 of us

Thank you Megan for the adorable outfit!

Emma loved the music and the choir

Happy Easter!
