Meet the Teacher

Tonight we went to Madison's school to meet her pre-school teacher and check out her classroom.  I can't believe my baby is going to school!  We've been talking about it all summer and she keeps telling me that she's going to cry when I leave her but after tonight I'm hoping it won't be as bad.  I signed up to help with the Valentine's Day party and told her teacher I'm happy to help with anything else so hopefully I can do some other things over the course of the year.  Madison liked her classroom and her teacher seems nice so I'm hopeful for a good year.  We also have 3 good friends in our class so I think it will help to see some familiar faces on the first day of school.

She sat right down and started playing with the blocks.  Our friend Jack is the little boy in the plaid shorts next to her

Madison and Carter, I'm so glad she already has some friends in her class

These 2 are so cute!

When did my sweet girl get so big?

Mimi came over to watch Emma so Chase and I could give Madison our full attention.  We went out to dinner and then came home to tell Mimi all about meet the teacher

91

On Saturday we took a little road trip down to Bogata for Granny's 91st birthday.  Madison kept her busy working puzzles and Emma left a trail of snacks as she waddled all over the house.  Pretty sure Granny will be finding Cheerios for a while!  After we spent a nice afternoon catching up with Granny we met the rest of the bunch out for dinner before heading home.  The girls were pretty tired by dinner time so it was a little touch and go but overall we had a great visit.

The weather was overcast and great lighting for pictures so we went outside to snap a few

My little barefoot beauty

There were grasshoppers galore so Pa caught one for Madison to "pet"

She was finally brave enough to hold one herself

Granny pulled out of bag of puzzles for her and Madison to put together.  I'm sure I worked some of these same puzzles when I was Madison's age.

11 Months

Today is Emma's 11 month birthday!  She has definitely been keeping me on my toes since she's figured out how to walk and climb the stairs.  I want to put her in a big rubber donut to prevent all the bumps and bruises that come with new walkers .  She had her first blood shed this month and I know it's only the beginning.  Chase calls her our little drunk baby because she has the stumble, wobble, and random direction change down pat.  She's started eating more table foods this month including pancakes for breakfast and meatballs for lunch or dinner.  Pretty much anything she can gum on she will eat.  She's finally getting a top tooth to put her up to 3 whole teeth!  We are slow to get chompers around here.  Have I ever mentioned that Emma's a mama's girl???  Ha, she's still prefers her mama if I'm in sight but she does love her daddy too.  Here's some pictures from the month:

GO KAPPA, think I'll put this one in her rush packet

We decided to lower her crib to the bottom level this month.  She hasn't tried to escape yet but I certainly don't want to make it easy on her!

Emma's been saying "mama" for a couple months now, usually when she's tired or wants something and occasionally she has started saying "dada" too

She can feed herself a bottle and probably would have months ago if I ever gave her the chance.  In the hopes of eliminating bottles I've been putting her morning milk in a sippy cup and she's been doing just fine with it.  Before nap and night time, bottles are still her preference though.

Emma is quite expressive and can get pretty loud when she wants to.  When we take something away from her she immediately throws her head back goes into hysterics but stops immediately if you give it back, it's quite comical.  I think we may have a drama queen on our hands!

Sweet cheeks!  Emma hates having her diaper/clothes changed and is quite the escape artist.  She gets away from me as quick as she can and takes off in the other direction.  The other day I actually saw this cute little tooshie in the monitor because I had put Emma down for a nap in a diaper but no pants and she took it off.  Thankfully there were no ugly messes to clean up.  No more pantless naps for her!

The jury's still out on what color Emma's eyes are going to be...

We've been celebrating birthdays, Happy Birthday Pa!

And planning birthdays. I'm going with an owl theme for our soon to be one year old.

This girl loves to splash!

Look at me mom!  She really walks everywhere and doesn't much crawl anymore.  If she falls down she pops right back up and keeps going.

She figured out how to open Madison's play jewelry drawer so she likes to pull everything out

Emma doesn't really want to play with baby toys any more, she just wants to be where Madison is and do what Madison is doing.  Madison isn't always a fan of this since Emma is like a mini tornado and doesn't yet know how to play gently.

Apparently she thinks she's a gymnast already, thank you Olympics!

Clearly she doesn't let things get in her way

Emma doesn't watch a lot of TV but she LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and dances to the theme song.  Really, she dances to any song and loves music.  But when this show comes on she whips her head around to see the TV and gets soooo excited.

Daddy's home!

This is about the best we could do with our elephant this month.  After nap time snuggles...

Happy 11 months sweet girl!
