On Tuesday we went to hang out with Megan and Parker and while Parker was taking a nap we had a mini photo shoot with Madison. Megan got some great pictures, here's a few of our favorites. Thanks for a fun day Megan!
Well I think it's safe to say that at 4 months Madison has found her voice and is quite the talker. No one can get her going quite like her daddy, she is a total daddy's girl, and normally she doesn't perform for the camera but we got a few good noises out of her tonight. There is nothing sweeter than a baby laughing. We've also put her facing forward in her stroller and she seems to like it. Here's some cute pics of our girl.
Yesterday morning was a very special day for Madison. She was baptized at St. Thomas, where we were married, and the same Deacon who married us also performed the ceremony. My mom found the baptismal gown that both my brother and I wore when we were baptized so that's what Madison wore and she looked very pretty! She did really well and got a little fussy toward the end so Deacon Ken started talking faster, I think she was tired of being still. Afterwards we had all our family back to our house for lunch. Madison stayed awake for most of her party but naptime eventually caught up with her.
Today Madison had her 4 month check up and this time was a little more traumatic than last. She's doing great as far as height and weight: 24 1/2 inches long and weighs 13 lbs 10 oz, both in the 50th percentile. The shots, however were much worse and we heard a terrible cry that we have never heard before-so pitiful. It all started with a thumb prick and she did ok, and then nurse Karen came in and it was all down hill from there. There is a shot they now give orally and Madison did not want to swallow it, I'm sure it doesn't taste very good, so the nurse had to work her jaw and push it around until it finally went down in between yells. And then as soon as she felt the alcohol swab on her leg she started screaming, it's like she knew what was coming. She got a shot in each leg like last time and she was not happy about it. We got to see tears and everything, not normal for us. When we got in the car she got the thumb that wasn't pricked, she sucks both, and went to sleep; I think she wore herself out. Somehow I don't think she is going to be a fan of the doctor's office. Sorry Maddie Moo!
Well I think it's safe to say that Chase won "Uncle of the Year" this weekend because somehow Jill convinced him to dress up as Swiper the fox from Dora the Explorer. Kylie turned 2 and she had a Dora themed birthday party in which Dora and Swiper both made an appearance. For those of you who are not up to speed on Dora, Swiper "swipes" things and then the correct response is "Swiper no Swiping!" Kylie wasn't too sure about Swiper and he did make one little girl cry, but other than that the rest of the kids seemed to be ok with him. Good job Chase! Madison was so good at the party and she was wiped out by the end.
Chase and I just celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary. We went to Maquire's, which is where he proposed, and had a wonderful dinner. Chase even ordered escargot for an appetizer and somehow convinced me to try one. I would never order them on my own but they weren't as bad as I had anticipated. It was so nice to sit down together and actually eat a meal at the same time without worrying about what Madison was doing. We were laughing in the car that it had been a while since we sat in the front seat together. Usually one of us is in the back with Madison, Oh how things have changed!
On Thursday a few of the kappa girls got together to hang out and play with the babies. Robin was in town from New York so those of us who could make it went to Mansfield to meet baby Jake. Robin is one of the 6 of us who had babies around the same time. Madison is 16 weeks and is Jake 8 weeks but they are almost the same size, she is still pretty petite! We took the kids swimming and got to hang out for a little while. Since we are all scattered and have busy schedules we don't get to see each other very often so it was fun to catch up.
I had to post a couple of Madison's pajama pictures. As a baby shower gift I got these cute pajamas with Little Princess written all over them and the crown head band to complete the look. We had to try them out before Madison out grew them because they are newborn size.
We put a phone book under Madison's jumperoo because her feet don't quite touch the ground. She loves it and it makes her so animated! We have taken a few videos of her jumping. I'm not sure which is more entertaining, watching Madison jump or listening to me and Chase act like fools so we would get a laugh! Those of you with kids have all done it. =)
We have had a fun week. On Monday Staci and Connor came to visit and meet Madison for the first time. On Wednesday night Ward came in town with Nate and their two boys on their way to Wyoming, yes they are driving! We took the kids to the pool in the hopes of wearing them out after the car ride. Madison was asleep after about 10 minutes, Ryan and Jackson needed a little more than that. Hopefully they made it to their final destination! We also went to lunch with our neighbors down the street Caroline and Alise. Madison and Alise are just two days apart. Michael had ankle surgery on Thursday afternoon so we all went over to see him on Friday. Hope you feel better soon! Friday and Saturday Madison wore her two pairs of plaid shorts that Megan gave her and she looked so cute! It's kind of a joke because Chase has several pairs of plaid shorts so it was only fitting they rock the plaid shorts together. I decided not to partake in this trend because my rear end is large enough and does not need to be magnified by lots of tiny squares! Surprisingly, we never got a pic of Chase and her together in their shorts but we will soon. The bottom pictures are my favorite, we bought a new swim suit for Madison this weekend so we had to try it out today. The pink polka dot hat totally completes the outfit!
