Summer Toys

Since Madison had so much fun playing on the beach in Galveston we thought she would enjoy a sand and water table for the backyard. We made a Toys R Us run tonight and didn't leave empty handed. We haven't put sand in it yet so here she is splashing in the water.

Splash! I think she likes it

Even Arnie enjoyed the water table

Of course she was soaked after about 10 minutes

Madison also got her first set of golf clubs. Since she is walking now Chase thought it was time she learn to play, I knew it was only a matter of time.

I don't think she really grasps the concept yet but she loved walking around the backyard with her new toy

Father's Day and 15 Months

Happy Father's Day to all the special daddies out there! This morning Chase went to the golf course, as he does every Sunday morning, so Madison and I headed over to my parents house to visit with my dad and go to breakfast with my side of the family. Then after nap time it was off to Chase's parents house for some pool time and lunch. We had a great day and hope you did too.

Here's Father's Day last year

And here's this year

I love my daddy!

Today Madison turned 15 months old. She seems like such a big girl now and is changing by the day. The biggest accomplishment this past month was learning to WALK so now she toddles everywhere, much prefers walking over being held.
-favorite word to say is mama but dada is a close second. Other words in her vocabulary consist of: uh oh, bath, ball, bow, bubba (what we call Arnie), not to be confused with bubble which sounds pretty much the same. Clearly she has the B words down. She also says bu bye, and yum. I'm sure I'm leaving a few out but that's all I can think of right now.
-shakes her head yes to everything
-points and grunts at what she wants until she gets it
-we figured out that her growling comes from watching Ni Hao Kai Lan because in the opening song they sing about Rintu "tiger tiger roar." It's pretty hilarious because she starts growling as soon as it comes on TV. She and Gram like to roar at each other and then laugh.
-another favorite show she watches is Yo Gabba Gabba and she starts saying gaba gaba and claps her hands when it starts
-Nick Jr and Sprout are our favorite channels and she also especially likes Moose who comes on in between cartoons on Nick Jr. She can be on the other side of the room and if she hears him talking she comes running to the TV
-LOVES goldfish, cheerios, and little crunchies
-hasn't been the best milk drinker lately so we've been adding a few squirts of chocolate syrup to make it taste better.
-she is definitely my daughter because the girl loves shoes! In fact she doesn't understand why she can't wear more than one pair of shoes at a time so sometimes when we put on a pair she'll bring me another pair and hold her foot up.
-loves daddy to tickle her and purposely lays down on her back so he will get her
-refuses to wear bibs and rips them off as fast as I put them on
-every time the phone rings she immediately grins and says "dada," it's really cute
-she's into everything and requires constant supervision, not like she didn't before, but now that she is walking she can be gone in a flash and into something she shouldn't be
-weighs 20lbs 12oz
-We don't make it very long in restaurants anymore because Madison doesn't like being confined in a high chair. She wants to get up and walk around like a big girl!

Third and final beach day...

Today was baseball cap day, at least for a little while. Before we left for the trip I found this pink hat in one of Madison's drawers and she wouldn't take it off.

Instead of shovels she walked around with two little nets today.

While Madison was napping Brett and I took off into the waves

Now for the excitement of the day. About 50 yards down from us we spotted a guy who went out waist deep, cast a fishing line into the water, and then went to sit back down on the beach. About 10 minutes later we saw the line bending and he was reeling something in. We ran over to see what was about to come up and it was a black tipped shark...not far from where we were swimming! Yet one more reason Ashley was not a fan of the water.

Catch and release, here he is swimming away. Please swim far far away from us!

Here's Chase and Chris trying to catch their own sea creature. Chase's dad brought a few fishing poles but we didn't have any live bait so they just used regular fishing lures. After about an hour or so when nothing was caught they decided to throw in the towel.

Fisherman Brett and Grandad

Since this was our last night in Galveston we headed down to the beach before dinner to take some family pictures.

Madison and Kylie had matching dresses. As you can see from Madison's expression she was over family picture time. It's hard to see but she is an absolute mess with sand all over her dress, hands, feet, and face

What a good looking group!
