Emma's First Haircut!!!

Well, we finally did.  At just one month shy of 3.5 years Emma got her first haircut.  I hated to cut off those baby curls but it was time.  Her hair is super fine so it's always in knots and she is super tender headed which makes brushing a battle.  We took her to Sweet N Sassy so she could get the full haircut experience!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone had a LOVEly Valentine's Day!  Ours was pretty good and low key as usual, just the way we like it.  The weather on actual Valentine's Day was absolutely beautiful and was such a teaser for Spring getting up to around 80 degrees.  I am definitely ready for the warmer weather!  Here's some pictures from our Valentine's week...

I volunteered to do the craft for Emma's Valentine's Day party at school.  I'm not an overly crafty person but I saw these cute frames at Michaels and couldn't walk away.  I painted them white, added a couple heart stickers, and then we did each child's handprint at the party.  I got a little overzealous with the paint on Emma's but I'd say this handprint sums her up pretty well!  =)

Madison is my little crafter and likes to do projects all by herself.  She worked so so hard painting her Valentine box for school and then covered it with stickers.

Madison's party was fun too.  This is the first time Emma has been up to school and she enjoyed it.  I helped with the candy station where the kids had to move Valentine candy from one plate to another using chop sticks.

Kind of hard to see but I love how Madison's heart antennae head band is sticking out from her heart hat!

They get to play "Just Dance" at school via projection.  How cool is that...where was this when we were in kindergarten???

Adam gave her this cute owl shaped bubble bath that his mom told me he picked out all on his own. 

We let the girls have their Valentine treat first thing when they got up on Saturday and then after daddy made heart waffles we went to the Allen Outlets to find Madison some new shoes.  Afterwards it was off to the park to enjoy the warm weather before heading home to a steak and lobster dinner made by our favorite daddy chef.

Anything Monster High=excited face.  Emma got Frozen Uno because we love playing card games around here.

Because we don't have enough American Girl accessories, ha ha, we got them a carriage that goes with the horse Emma got for Christmas.

I bought the girls some sparkling cider to drink at dinner and they thought they were pretty fancy drinking out of their special champagne flutes.

So Far in February...

The month is flying by and I find myself sitting down to blog less and less.  So not normal for me!  It's certainly not for lack of material...I've just been lazy.  Here's what's been going on this month...

Emma fell asleep before the Super Bowl even started.  That's what happens when you get up with the sun.

Madison is always making special pictures for Emma at school and is so excited to show them to her when she gets home. Apparently the class hears stories about Emma because when I took her up to help with Madison's Valentine's Day party one of her classmates looked at Emma and said, "Your sister talks about you A LOT!"  I laughed out loud, it was really cute.

We went to the Ft. Worth stock show and had a blast.  It was the very last day so most of the animals had already gone home which meant more time for the midway.  We left no ride unridden!  =)

Dad will love me for this...

I never blogged about it, but back in October my dad had an aortic aneurysm that landed him in the hospital for a very long and scary week and a half.  He had a few complications along the way and it was during the Ebola outbreak at Presby so it made us all a little on edge.  A recent cat scan revealed that his aneurysm was actually growing and after further review they realized his stints were leaking.  Sooo, last week back to the hospital he went for an additional two surgeries.  Luckily all went well and this time seemed to be a little more uneventful.  Fingers crossed everything is now fixed!  

Funny story:  As you can see from the picture above he does not lack in the manly hair department.  A nurse told him they don't shave their patients anymore for fear of infection so he might want to "get rid" of some of his chest hair before the surgery so they didn't rip it off while removing any medical tape like last time.  So he decided to Nair it.  Well, lets just say that Nair and my dad don't go well together and he ended up with a horrendous rash that delayed surgery for an entire week!  He was known around the hospital as "that guy" when he went into the story.  Pretty sure his doctor won't let him live that one down.  Glad we can all joke about it now.

Little Miss recently passed the test to move up to Gold Level in gymnastics and is loving it.

Daddy Daughter Dance

Tonight Chase and Madison went to their first ever Daddy Daughter dance.  We have been looking forward to it all week!  I invited her girl scout friends and their dads over before the dance so the guys could get acquainted.  They are a good group!  Everyone looked great and I so wish I could have been a fly on the wall.

Chase said all the dads were impressed with Madison's taste buds.  They served lasagna, salad, and rolls for dinner and Madison cleaned her plate!  A few of the girls are pretty picky and only ate bread.  =)
