Sounds at Sundown

On Friday nights in June Murphy hosts "Sounds at Sundown" which are free concerts in our new central park amphitheater.  We tried it out this weekend and it was so much fun!  Emerald City Band played and they were phenomenal, what a great show!  We met Kylie and Hayden and Madison's "boyfriend" Jack Henry's family there so that made it extra fun too.  He has a little brother for Emma so we are already planning a double wedding.  =)

Evan, Jack Henry, Madison, and Emma.  The 2 littles are definitely the feisty ones in this group!

One of the first few songs they sang was "My Girl."  About half way through the song Madison looked at me and said, "Do you know who my boy is?...Jack Henry!"  These 2 crack us up.  =)

While we are on the subject of Jack Henry, he just turned 5 last week so his mom invited us over for a birthday lunch.  Madison gave him a birthday balloon and glow in the dark dinosaurs.  These 2 aren't going to know what to do next year when they go to different schools.  =(

Summer Fun

We have a fairly low key summer planned this year.  Disney World is on the horizon for October so we are super excited about that and trying to lay low and keep busy with local activities.  Madison just did a week of gymnastics camp with all her school buds and had a blast.  She's going for another week in July.  Today was her first day of VBS with many of the same school friends and she came home all smiles.  She is taking a weekly jazz/hip hop class and is still enrolled in gymnastics as well.  T-ball finishes up this weekend and I think she may do a cheer camp in August.  So, we still have plenty to keep us busy!  Her social calendar is definitely waaay busier than mine.  =)   Oh, to be 5 again!

Miss Emma doesn't have as much going on but she is taking swim lessons from Ms. Kim and doing great.  She has no fear and absolutely loves going under water.  What 2 year old likes to do that?  In fact she refuses to wear her swim vest most of the time because it keeps her a float!  Can't take our eyes off her for a second, wish she was a little less dare devilish when it comes to the water.

Father's Day Weekend

We spent Father's Day weekend with all the cool dads in our life.  We spent part of Saturday in the pool with Grandad.  It was a little chilly for me, our June has been fairly mild, so I watched from the side and enjoyed the sun.  Sunday morning we had all of my side over for Father's Day breakfast before Madison's t-ball game at 1.

"Making The Sound"

I confess, I haven't been very proactive about potty training Emma so up until last week she was still in diapers all the time.  Potty training is for the birds and can be so frustrating so honestly I just didn't want to do it.  BUT, last Saturday we were at Chase's parents house and she went in the potty 4 times in a row, out of no where.  When we left she said, "Mommy, I'm potty trained!" lol.  I knew she could do it because about a month ago she told me for the first time ever that she needed to potty and she did.  She got soooo excited because she "made a sound."  So now every time we go sit on the potty she looks at me and says, "I think I can make the sound."  Hilarious!  I think it just needed to be her idea.
On Sunday, I took the girls to the movies and Emma actually told me during the show that she needed to go so we went, and she pooped!  I couldn't believe it.  Ever since she's been wearing big girl panties and going on the potty like a champ.  I haven't been setting timers or anything routine like I did with Madison, she just does it.  If we are running errands or will be gone for a while I put a pull up on under her panties, just in case, but she has been great about telling me when she needs to go and find a bathroom.  It will be a while before we tackle sleeping with out a diaper but for someone who all of sudden decided they were potty trained she is doing great!  I guess her big girl bed prompted some big girl behavior.  Now if we could just get rid of that paci...baby steps.  Here's to making the sound!

T-Ball

We have been loving T-ball!  It helps that we are playing with all our friends but Madison is really good at it too!

Chase likes being on the field with the kids.  He said they are hilarious and say all sorts of funny things.  =)

Emma loves watching t-ball too.  More than anything she loves playing with one of the big sisters, Macey.  Emma doesn't sit still for more than 10 seconds at the games and Macey looked at me a couple weeks ago and said, "Is she always like this?"  I got a good laugh out of that one.

Summer Babies

A few weeks ago the girls and I started noticing these beautiful birds singing in our tree every morning.  After looking on the Internet they are called House Finches.  We have some hanging baskets on our front porch and they kept flying to the chain on one of them.  Come to find out they had built a nest and when I was watering one day 2 babies jumped out.  I felt horrible but they had a body full of feathers and were old enough to hop around.  One actually made it back to the nest and I think the other took up residency in our bushes.

After watering these little babies I checked the other baskets and found another nest but this one is tiny and this egg is super small so it's a different kind of bird.

Our other summer babies are out back.  Around Easter we planted some pumpkin seeds just for fun and they have GROWN tremendously!  Hopefully we'll get our own little pumpkin patch this Fall.  It's crazy to think all this came from a few small seeds.  We also tried some watermelon on the other side of the garden but they don't get as much sun so I don't think we'll being getting any fruit from that.  Oh well, the girls have had fun watering and watching these flourish.

The leaves are huge!

These pretty yellow flowers open up in the morning so the bees can pollinate them.
